Here is a thought-provoking video on genetic engineering and bioethics. Watch at your leisure and enjoy!
Today we studied the Lac Operon. For optional homework, please see the unit page for a document titled "Lac Operon Practice." It leads to a Bozeman Science video and questions to go along with it. If you do this assignment, you can get an extra stamp on your homework sheet (either to replace a missed homework or to get an extra one).
Also, the timeline for the week is as follows:
Tuesday: finish discussion on gene expression (ch 15), learn trp operon
Wednesday: Discussion of biotechnology (ch 16)
Friday: Unit 6 Test
Next week: SPRING BREAK! B)
Remember that your methods paper will be due after break. Do not worry about it this week!
Thanks for your hard work this unit! I really appreciate how hard you are working, and I know that with a little more focused effort you can all be successful in this class.
Today's pop quiz will NOT go in the gradebook, but should inform you how much you need to study this weekend. The review activity can be found HERE, and the extension activity HERE and HERE.
Also, I will postpone the methods paper due date until after spring break so that we can all focus on this unit. We will go over it in detail later.
Thanks for all your hard work with these research projects! You should be doing the finishing touches of your research paper tonight, especially if you'll be at Open House on Thursday.
You will also have to submit this paper to turnitin.com.
Class ID: 17669522
The paper needs to be submitted in person at the beginning of class on Monday, and online no later than Sunday night at 11:59 pm. (no, you may not print the paper in my room at the beginning of class. Have it printed when you arrive.)
Thanks, and if you have any questions, email me or ask in class.
You have been working so hard this unit and I want to acknowledge that! Thanks for all the work you do for my class.
To relieve a little stress, I am moving the test to Friday. Take a load off tonight, get some sleep, and come rested and ready to learn and review more tomorrow.
Check your magnet email for more information.
Thanks for your hard work this unit! Together we played with bubbles, designed a membrane lab, learned to work a microscope, and broke a lot of toothpicks!
Tonight, your homework is to A) review the formulas for cell respiration and photosynthesis and B) learn in detail the structure of the mitochondria and chloroplast. This will help profusely with tomorrow's lesson.
