If you missed open house, see an outline of what we discussed below:
Introduction: I absolutely love teaching your children! I have a background in genetics research but later discovered my passion for teaching. This is my second year at Wheeler Magnet and it is my absolute pleasure to be chaperoning your students as they learn and grow as scientists and individuals.
Themes for the semester include STEAM (arts integration in science classes), the independent research project (teaches students to be "real scientists") and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (a wonderful book on cancer, ethics, and history.)
Each unit has a page on my blog with A) exactly what's on the test, B) due dates, and C) study resources. Everything is provided to ensure your student knows what is expected of them and has the ability to meet those expectations.
There is a cumulative End of Course Test created and mandated by the state which is very important. It will be December 11.
